Juz 12: Surah Hud and Surah Yusuf

Juz 12 Quran Activities for Kids

Before you dive into the actual activities for each surah, spend some time reciting the surah together. In this case, recite the remaining ayahs of Surah Hud, starting at ayah 6 and the first 52 ayahs of Surah Yusuf. If this is not possible, listen to the surah on a digital device. Since we will be recreating our masjid experience, we be listening to Mishari Rashid on our Quran explorer App.

Surah Hud

This surah, although given the name of Prophet Hud (A), starts off by recounting the story of Prophet Nuh (A). In Ayah 36, Allah (SWT) tells Nuh (A) to build an ark, and in Ayah 40, He tells him to take into the Ark a pair of 2 animals from every species along with the believers. Download the Nuh (A) Activities HERE.

Nuh (A)’s Ark Coloring Activity

For younger kids, use the first page as a coloring activity. As the children color the animals on the Ark, read the story of Nuh (A), either from the Ayahs of the Quran or using a separate story book. Alternatively, you can share the story first and have the children color as they recount some of the facts from the story.

Animal Memory Game

Another activity is an animal memory game. It’s pages 2-4 on the above printable. Print two copies of the animal cards, and cut out each of the squares. You can make the cards more durable by printing on card stock paper and laminating it. Lay out each of the cards face down, and have the child find the pairs by flipping over 2 cards. If there’s a match, they keep it, otherwise the cards are flipped back face down. This can be played by multiple players. The player with the most matches wins.

A modification for younger kids

For younger kids, use it as a simple matching game. For this, you will lay out one set of cards and hold the second set in your hand. Pull out one animal and ask the child to find its matching pair. Remove the pairs once they are matched or keep them there as an additional challenge.

Surah Yusuf

Yusuf (A) Maze

For this activity you will need to download the FREE printable HERE. This is self-explanatory maze activity in which the child has to find the path from the bucket to the well. We will cover another activity on this Surah in the next Juz inshallah.
